Welcome to Avarice!
Humans died out long ago. Now shifters rule the earth - animals that have the power to change into humans. In Ilisthmira there are nine species of wolf shifters, the most powerful of which are the Silvers. The Silvers rule over the other eight packs, though they have recently become more and more isolationist. Now the land is in chaos as every pack hates the others and fights break out constantly. Can you survive? Then start your journey.
As the most powerful of all the species of Ilisthmira, the Silvers rule over the entire kingdom. They live a mostly carefree existence, letting the other packs do as they wish and making the Morphlings do their bidding. Unlike the other species, Silvers generally prefer to use their human forms rather than their wolf forms.
The Morphlings serve the Silvers in a state akin to slavery. The Captain, Lieutenant, and Admirals are each assigned a royal Silver to protect; the rest of the Morphlings share the task of guarding the castle and upholding the laws throughout the kingdom. They use their human form for the most part, since it is considered rude to be seen by a Silver in any other form unless commanded to.
Though known for being a lazy and self-serving species, not all the Colorcoats live up to the name. Still, the majority of them spend their days grooming themselves and admiring their long, colorful fur. Rarely does one ever wander from the territory, and they all try to avoid getting involved in the perpetual conflict that pervades the kingdom. They are the closest living relatives to the gray wolves of old.
Cloudhoppers are the most intelligent species; their knowledge spans every subject, and their libraries are rivaled only by the Silvers'. Their society is strict, with emphasis on tact and rules, and the other species know them to be very arrogant. They are often called to be arbitrators in disputes involving other packs.
Closely related to the Celces, Farens are a prideful and honorable species. They detest lies and hold the well-being of the pack above all else. However, their love of war is obvious in every aspect of their life; they are very upfront and direct about most things, so small fights among themselves are a common occurence, and they often hire themselves out as mercenaries for the other packs.
As close relatives, the cold-hearted Celces have personalities very similar to the Farens - they consider the pack more important than individuals, they are direct and frank, and they love war. One main difference between the two societies is that the Celces are matriarchal, unlike the Farens who consider males dominant over females.
Shrouded in mystery and rarely seen, Riverkeepers are a frightening entity in the minds of the other packs. They spend most of their time in water or mist; when they do reveal themselves to an outsider, they speak mostly in riddles. They tend to spend their time alone or in small groups, but they don't mind company either.
Terrians are a peaceful, nature-loving species. All forms of fighting, even minor disputes, are frowned upon. They live by themselves or in small, nomadic family groups rather than in a central pack. The oldest family member is usually the leader of each group, but other than that, the only ranked wolf is the unofficial "Medicine Wolf" of the entire kingdom.
Shades are hated and feared by everyone. They are notorious for their insidious natures; the mere sight of one is enough to terrify most. They live alone, only banding together occasionally in order to attack or steal from larger groups. Their venom has only one known cure, which only the Silvers and Medicine Wolf are aware of.
The adorable little bird that she is! Thistle is a newer member in retrospect, but you wouldn't believe it since she fits in so well with our happy family! Her characters - Idris, the strong minded female Morphling, the Stormking Celce, and a fire dancer in the making - are all diverse and unique. She's an amazing writer and an amazing member. We're glad to have Thistle with us on Avarice!
Oh, Reaver. Obviously all of Noir's characters are made out of win. Last month it was Ev, and now the spotlight's on Reaver. This handsome devil is a lone Faren with a lust for blood and all the thrill that comes with it. Currently he can be seen around the site, causing trouble in many ways: from decieving girls to pissing off stone cold killers just like himself. Honestly, what is he going to get himself into next?
Artaxerxes is a runaway Morphling with a bad temper, hiding from the Silvers. Ronald is the Cloudhopper hitman hired to kill him. What happens when these two mifits are forced together in the most ridiculously fanservice way ever? Okay, enough with the Sitcom advertisement. These dudes hate each other. So naturally, they had to have a thread! Don't worry, though. It'll just get better.

Hello there! I'm Aydan, your admin. ^^ I've worked long and hard on this site, and I'm really loving watching it grow. Hm... what to say. Well, I'm nice and lenient, and I am very persistent; I have another wolf roleplay that is three years old and still running strong, so you know I'm never going to give up on this place! Not that my fellow staff will ever let me. xD
Speaking of which... I've known Rainy Tana the longest out of all of them, back when I first started roleplaying. Destiny was the first member on here, and I've known her for a very long time as well. I dragged Falky over here from my other site, which she codes amaaazingly as well. Even though I haven't known Jade as long as the others, she's like a sister to me and knows the site better than anyone else. I love them all, so listen to what they say or else!

Hi, my name is Destiny but I am often just called: Des, Dessie, “Box of Grass” or Puzzle (on various other sites). I have been roleplaying for . . . awhile; not as long as some but not as short as others. I’m a writer, poet, musician, digit artist, painter, lover, fighter and a secret agent! :D I’m just kidding you about that last part but because I’m a staff member you never know ;) No one knows how I even became a staff member so I must have done something stealthy, right? If I had to say which of the staff members I work really well with.. I'd say it's my stalker, Dessie. I have a lot of stalkers, which is kinda scary, but me and Dessie have a long history. xD I lovelovelove manga and anime, and I am an aspiring (sucky) artist with no life or future. <:'3 Or at least, that is to say, I have yet to decide whatever I want to do, and people keep pressuring me to figure it out. (they're all scary admins.) i love them all, i have known destiny and falky for years now, and since joining avarice, i've become friends with aydan and tana. avarice has been one of the most amazing sites i have ever been on. not that i've been on that many in my roleplay career. ^^;
i have been roleplaying for about four years now; my characters tend to be female, bitter, antisocial, and lonely, but they usually have their heart in the right place. my loves are writing, reading, and writing poetry. i also play violin~ on avarice, i have been known as 'the voice of reason', or more commonly, 'the grammar police'. if you want to roleplay with me, just drop me a line; i'd love to roleplay with you <3 i'm also here if you just want someone to talk to ^^

The rulers of Ilisthmira reside here, in the easternmost point of Ilisthmira. Though both the Silvers and the Morphlings call this place home, the Silvers are the true owners. The castle lies in the center of the land and is where both species live; the outskirts, such as the plains and the forest, are the hunting grounds. The Morphlings guard the borders while the Silvers live comfortably within the luxurious stone walls of their castle, hardly caring to leave except to hunt. Most outsiders are not admitted within the territory, except for the occasional diplomatic mission.
This is the territory belonging to the Cloudhoppers. The majority of it is made up of sheer, towering mountains; the only way up is by flying, which means they are safe from most attacks. However, they pay the price for such seclusion: little prey can be found throughout the territory and vegetation grows scarcer higher up. Food is, therefore, never wasted.
The Celces live in the coldest part of Ilisthmira, far to the north. The entire territory is covered in snow or ice, and the temperature is always below freezing. Celces make their dens underground, in intricate tunnels that were excavated long ago by other wolves. Most prey found here, other than fish, are too large for a single Celces to bring down, so every pack member knows the value of teamwork.
The Colorcoats have a relatively small territory in the heart of Ilisthmira. They rarely bother to defend the borders, since most of them remain around the main camp anyway. Food is so abundant, though, there really isn't much of a point in fighting for the outskirts of their territory. Most of the land is forested, but the perimeter is more varied as it meets up with the other packs' territories.
Terrians enjoy a lush landscape full of wildlife and colorful flowers. Since they don't eat meat, other animals feel quite at ease in their presence. The foliage of the territory thrives because the Terrians take such good care of their land. Because they are a peaceful species and their land is so fertile, they are under constant attack from Shades, with whom they share a border.
In the southernmost part of Ilisthmira lies the arid land of the Farens. A stifling heat permeates every part of this territory of parched canyonlands and endless desert; shade and water are rare. Prey is abundant, though hard to find unless you know where to look. Most outsiders would die quickly in this harsh, unforgiving environment, but the Farens are perfectly suited for it.
As a species so dependant on water to survive, it is no wonder that the Riverkeepers' territory is humid and full of rivers and lakes. A rainforest makes up most of the territory, but off the coast of Ilisthmira lies a small island that they also live on. They are a mysterious species that mostly keep to themselves, harboring little threat of attack from the neighboring Terrians, Farens, and Silvers.
Near the Colorcoat and Terrian borders and within the unclaimed lands to the west is the Ilisthmira Market. All species are welcome to buy and sell their goods here. One can find almost anything here, from toys to medicine. The northern end of the Market is surrounded by forest; the southern end is in the desert and is where the more unsavory characters barter for darker items, many of which are stolen. Watch out for Shades; many of them come here to sell things, but you never know whether or not their intentions are good.
The temples for all three gods - Yuei, Deia, and Serai - are in the unclaimed territories, located north of the Market and at the very edge of the Colorcoat and Terrian territories. The temples themselves are all within a mile or two of each other. They are all made of stone, though they look very different from each other, and no one knows how or when they were built. All the species of Ilisthmira come here periodically to pray - or, as the Shades often do, to attack worshippers.
The wolves of Ilisthmira call this the Ghost Forest for many reasons, the most prominant of which is that the trees here are all white. The majority of the forest is made of tall white birch; the rest of the trees have aquired white bark as well, for some unknown reason. They are all either leafless or have leaves near their tops, and little vegetation grows on the ground. However, a light mist always covers the earth, adding to the ethereal atmosphere. Few animals roam here, making one wonder what could be scaring them away from this place...
Long before the nine packs were established, humans used to roam these lands. Even after so many years, evidence of their presence remains, and such is the case with these ruins. It is unknown as to how old they are or what their purpose once was. Now they just lie in disrepair, abandoned and forgotten. Though they are mostly made of stone - now crumbling and covered in ivy - there are remnants of other things that might have once been part of a bed, or a fireplace, or some other household item.
