Welcome to Avarice!
Humans died out long ago. Now shifters rule the earth - animals that have the power to change into humans. In Ilisthmira there are nine species of wolf shifters, the most powerful of which are the Silvers. The Silvers rule over the other eight packs, though they have recently become more and more isolationist. Now the land is in chaos as every pack hates the others and fights break out constantly. WELCOME TO THE madness.

Cloudhoppers are the most intelligent species; their knowledge spans every subject, and their libraries are rivaled only by the Silvers'. Their society is strict, with emphasis on tact and rules, and the other species know them to be very arrogant. They are often called to be arbitrators in disputes involving other packs.
The Morphlings serve the Silvers in a state akin to slavery. The Captain, Lieutenant, and Admirals are each assigned a royal Silver to protect; the rest of the Morphlings share the task of guarding the castle and upholding the laws throughout the kingdom. They use their human form for the most part, since it is considered rude to be seen by a Silver in any other form unless commanded to.
As the most powerful of all the species of Ilisthmira, the Silvers rule over the entire kingdom. They live a mostly carefree existence, letting the other packs do as they wish and making the Morphlings do their bidding. Unlike the other species, Silvers generally prefer to use their human forms rather than their wolf forms.
Shades are hated and feared by everyone. They are notorious for their insidious natures; the mere sight of one is enough to terrify most. They live alone, only banding together occasionally in order to attack or steal from larger groups. Their venom has only one known cure, which only the Silvers and Medicine Wolf are aware of.
Shrouded in mystery and rarely seen, Riverkeepers are a frightening entity in the minds of the other packs. They spend most of their time in water or mist; when they do reveal themselves to an outsider, they speak mostly in riddles. They tend to spend their time alone or in small groups, but they don't mind company either.
As close relatives, the cold-hearted Celces have personalities very similar to the Farens - they consider the pack more important than individuals, they are direct and frank, and they love war. One main difference between the two societies is that the Celces are matriarchal, unlike the Farens who consider males dominant over females.
Closely related to the Celces, Farens are a prideful and honorable species. They detest lies and hold the well-being of the pack above all else. However, their love of war is obvious in every aspect of their life; they are very upfront and direct about most things, so small fights among themselves are a common occurence, and they often hire themselves out as mercenaries for the other packs.
Though known for being a lazy and self-serving species, not all the Colorcoats live up to the name. Still, the majority of them spend their days grooming themselves and admiring their long, colorful fur. Rarely does one ever wander from the territory, and they all try to avoid getting involved in the perpetual conflict that pervades the kingdom. They are the closest living relatives to the gray wolves of old.
Terrians are a peaceful, nature-loving species. All forms of fighting, even minor disputes, are frowned upon. They live by themselves or in small, nomadic family groups rather than in a central pack. The oldest family member is usually the leader of each group, but other than that, the only ranked wolf is the unofficial "Medicine Wolf" of the entire kingdom.
There's absolutely nothing better in this world than a Riri and we're just lucky enough to have one right here on Avarice! Seriously, Riri is such a great person. Not only is she a wonderful friend to everybody (it doesn't matter if you've known her for a bajillion years or a couple minutes!) but she's also got this nifty little knack of making hilarious, lovable characters. And she writes them perfectly! I'm glad that we have a Riri in our lives.
Vaas is actually a new character but he's already managed to worm his way into our hearts. Our evil, black little hearts. Naturally, in order to be one of the many beloved characters on site, said character has to have a couple of screws loose in their head and a sadistic side, along with a whole bunch of charm. Luckily, Vaas has been blessed with all three! I really can't wait to see what this devil gets into!
I'm sure most of you know that there's a special place in my heart for Dagonet. I also think that Allison is the cutest thing to walk Ilisthmira - I mean, have you seen her? Adorable! So what could be better than those two in the same thread? Dag has taken refuge from the rain in the human ruins and Allison has wandered in as well. If you ask me, it's a bit of an odd couple, so who knows what could go down here?!

Hello there! I'm Aydan, your admin. I've worked long and hard on this site, and I'm really loving watching it grow. Hm... what to say. Well, I'm nice and lenient, and I am very persistent; you know I'm never going to give up on this place! Not that my fellow staff will ever let me. xD
Speaking of which... I've known Rainy Tana the longest out of all of them, back when I first started roleplaying. Destiny was the first member on here, and I've known her for a very long time as well. I dragged Falky over here from my other site, which she codes amaaazingly as well. Even though I haven't known Jade as long as the others, she's like a sister to me and knows the site better than anyone else. I love them all, so listen to what they say or else!

I'm known as "Celest" or "Celestial" around these parts, but I've also been known as "Tala", "Aurora" and "Natsumi" on other sites that I've been on. I've been roleplaying for about eleven years and I've been on staff for about five different sites, including Avarice. My specialty is wolf roleplays but I've also been known to do other genres if a particular site strikes my interest. I started on Avarice in June of 2011 and I have enjoyed every single minute of it. The people here are amazing, caring, supportive and compelling writers. I'm not easily impressed either, so that's saying something ;)
I only play a few characters, but I put everything into those few characters so that they have a more realistic depth to them. They range from sweet and innocent all the way to sadistic and bloodthirsty. Don't be afraid to hit me up for a thread or some plotting.

This thread explains the different species of Ilisthmira. Each post is for a different species. Keep in mind that these are general descriptions; if you have any questions, PM the admin.
For all species: » Each species has a name in the common language, by which they usually go by, and a true name in the original language of the Silvers.
» Females tend to be smaller than the males, but other than that, there is little physical distinction between genders. Cloudhoppers, Farens, and Shades consider females subordinate, while Celces consider males subordinate. The other species consider both genders relatively equal, for the most part.
» All species have a human form, but only Silvers and Morphlings have true control over it. The rest of the species find it difficult to remain a human for more than a few hours, while Silvers and Morphlings can change into a human for as long as they want.
» Many of the species find it hard to control their powers while in their human form, and therefore find it easier to use hand signs and other movements to channel their energy.
» The human form should somewhat resemble the wolf form in appearance. In particular, the eye color should be the same.

They can all walk through time. They can "teleport"; in a second they can travel a few hundred yards, but they must know where they are going and how to get there. They can turn invisible. Each individual has a specialty; for instance, one Silver can be extremely good at fortune-telling, while another Silver can be exceptional at reading minds. Other than the basic powers mentioned above, many Silvers have difficulty controlling their powers; they can be very unstable, especially young or inexperienced Silvers. They can use any power that other species can use, such as controlling water or turning into other animals; however, it takes more energy to use these powers than the normal powers Silvers have; for example, turning into a lion is a lot more tiring than turning invisible. When their emotions are strong, such as if one of them is very angry or frightened, they can use a devastating amount of power; after that, though, they are left very drained.
