sky citadel

Rising out of the fog above all the surrounding mountains lies the Cloudhoppers' main city. With pearly white spires and glass windows spanning floor to ceiling, the grandiose architecture rivals that of the Silvers' castle. Only the high-class and educated live here, with those of lower rank entering upon invitation or to bring much-needed food. Scholars, artisans, and ambassadors roam the spacious halls, speaking only in whispered breaths, as every careless sound echoes far beyond the intended ear. True to reputation, libraries make up the majority of the inner spaces, with the outer rim containing mostly shops and quiet boutiques. Other species are rarely seen wandering here, as the air is thin and the way up, treacherous. But with a little help, even Southerners can come to enjoy the luxury of the citadel.

mountainside

The entire territory of the Cloudhoppers is made of mountains. They are impossible to climb up very far unless you have wings, which protects the territory from most attacks. The first half of the mountains is mostly sheer rock with a few patches of forest here and there. Then, halfway up, there is a long plateau that pack members use for resting on their way up and meeting those that have gone to ground level. Few animals can scale the mountain or live at such an altitude, and those few that can are usually found in places too dangerous for the wolves to hunt. The flat parts of the mountain are forested, but the rest is just rock. Near the peak there is always snow, and there are tales of large herds of animals that live at the top; however, not many Cloudhoppers dare to travel all the way up for fear of the air thinning too much for them to breathe.

valley

At the foot of the mountain that makes up the Cloudhoppers' territory there is a small valley. It is nestled in a dip before the mountain begins and leads into cliffs lining the border with the Colorcoats. It used to belong to the Colorcoats long ago, but the Cloudhoppers claimed it because they needed it: it is the pack's main source of food. It is the only place in the territory where sufficient prey can be found to sustain the pack. It is a field of wildflowers and tall grass that hides many scurrying creatures, which in turn attract birds of prey that the pack is particularly adept at catching. A portion of the pack lives here, mostly made up of the low class or uneducated, and they make their homes in the trees. The low-ceilinged treehouses are built several meters off the ground and can be reached only by flying. These pack members form hunting parties that take turns collecting food and bringing it up the mountain, a trip that takes at least a day, in good weather. Sentries are posted at all times at strategic points around the meadow to make sure none of the other packs try to steal any food. The valley may be small, but it harbors much that the pack needs in order to survive.

Board Description
cloudhoppers
This is the territory belonging to the Cloudhoppers. The majority of it is made up of sheer, towering mountains; the only way up is by flying, which means they are safe from most attacks. However, they pay the price for such seclusion: little prey can be found throughout the territory and vegetation grows scarcer higher up. Food is, therefore, never wasted.
